Why this place exists
A child was born. That child will grow up with artificial intelligence, and will live and work alongside it. Even in a world where machines do much of the work for us, it is people who must decide what to ask and what to hold on to.
I believe the strength to do so grows from science, philosophy and history. Great Games of Thought was made in the hope that the children who will live in the age of artificial intelligence ahead, and each one of us, can go on building that strength, each in our own way.
For a long time, we have studied in order to be assessed, and have kept widening what we know. Now we need to build a way of thinking that lets humanity's own values — the ones even artificial intelligence cannot easily learn — do more good.
What a Great Game is
In each episode, we bring two great figures from history to the same table. Two ideas that seem opposed on the surface meet at their essence by the end of the story.
Contrast, twist, essence. We build each game to flow in this order.
Three lenses
A place to share ideas through history, philosophy and science — Great Games of Thought.
Each episode takes one everyday question and looks for the answer in history, philosophy and science. And at the end, I share my view briefly and hand you back a question.
Where to draw the line
Use AI, but how far must we not hand things over? The standard for drawing that line comes from history, philosophy and science.
About this library
The home of Great Games of Thought is this website. The videos are published on YouTube, and here we gather, for each episode, the video and its chapters, the full script, and the list of original sources and studies. The people dictionary and the OST are here too. So that you can come back and read them for a long time, this place grows as the videos accumulate.
How we check facts is set out in "How We Check Facts".
